Manique Gunaratne is the Manager of the Specialised Training and Disability Resource Centre at the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC), where she has been serving since 2001. She is a passionate advocate for inclusive economic development, disability rights, and the creation of sustainable employment and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities.
With extensive experience in disability inclusion, digital accessibility, skills development, and advocacy, Manique has played a significant role in promoting the rights, empowerment, and wellbeing of persons with disabilities in Sri Lanka and beyond. She is an International Trainer in Cisco qualifications and a Supported Employment Officer qualified by the Northern Ireland Union of Supported Employment, and has undertaken specialised training in ICT and accessible technologies in Japan, India, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
Manique is actively engaged in regional and international disability networks, serving in leadership and advisory roles including Vice Chairperson of the South Asian Disability Forum and Executive Committee Member of Asia Pacific Women with Disability United. She also serves as a resource person and public speaker on disability inclusion and accessibility, contributing to awareness, advocacy, and policy dialogue at national and international forums. Her dedicated service has been recognised through numerous national and international awards, including the Keerthisri Lankabhimani Deshabandu Award in 2014.
